It doesn’t matter what you do. Whether you’re a carpenter, a groundnut seller, a tailor, a freelance writer or designer. The fact remains that you need a blog to rise higher in that business. Before I launched this blog about three months ago, I was a freelance writer and web developer. I have to work on my toes to make N30,000 a month. But the moment i launched EntMirror was when demand rose.. I made over N100,000 in my first month and guess what, I was doing something that’s very easy and yet, expensive. As a freelancer, I was able to expose myself just by investing little. Yes! By starting a blog, I was able to smile to the bank.
No matter what you do, don’t you know that you can boost demand by bringing your business online by creating either a website or a blog? You never know what you’re missing until you grasp it. You don’t need to join the wagon of gossip bloggers to drive sales. All you need is to set up a professional blog and blog about the services you offer. By doing that, you’ll start making ridiculous amount of money in no time.
One of the reasons why lots of business tycoons shy away from owing a blog is the mindset that blogging is technical. It’s technical no doubt, but not to the extent you have imagined. It’s just as technical as your facebook account. If you can update your timeline on facebook, if you can tweet on twitter, then you can manage a blog. The benefits of having a blog for your business is enormous. In this article, i’m going to share with you how you can go about setting up a blog for your business. In this article, let’s assume that you’re a pig farmer who needs a blog that will help increase sales.
HOW TO SET UP A BLOG FOR YOUR BUSINESS
1. BLOG PLATFORM
The two most popular blog platform is Blogger and WordPress. Most people usually go for blogger, saying that it’s more easy to manage. Well, if you want something that’s very flexible, then go for WordPress. WordPress is easy and not technical. You don’t need to swim in codes to manage it. It’s just a drag and drop platform that’s very easy to manipulate. If you can read, you’ll be just fine. The only technicalities you might encounter is when setting up a blog which an experienced designer and developer can handle. You don’t need to stress yourself.
2. BLOG DOMAIN AND HOSTING
Domain name is just the name your blog will be answering.. As a pig farmer, you might want your blog to answer something like pighub.com, piggy.com, piggryfarm,com. Make sure the name is catchy enough to reveal the intent of the blog. I also recommend going for a .com extension due to its popularity.
Hosting in the other hand is like securing a land, or a space. A space where you’ll build your online shop. There are lots of foreign and local host you can try on. Host that are reliable cause you don’t want a situation whereby your blog is always experiencing downtime.
Assuming you’re a pig , your niche will be centered on everything pigs. You’ll make sure that you write helpful contents that will help your visitors know more about pigs or how to start the business. Millions of Nigerians are on net and most of them are on Google, asking how to start a pig farm or something related. No matter your niche, there’s always a market for it.
As a pig farmer, your blog should be filled with topics like;
- How To market pigs in the market.
- How To promote your pig farm
- How To buy the right pig
- How To roast pig
- Benefits of pig farming
…more of such articles should be found in your blog. Your blog has to deliver in its purpose or focus. If you remain focused, you’ll soon become an authority blog in that niche.
You must not derail by trying to post something about your favorite musician or politician. When your blog is filed with helpful contents, you’ll become a friend to google as she will always shower you with views and visitors.
